Where the current rules: Nature and life at Nesstraumen. A nature based excursion to Nesstraumen — one of Hamarøy’s most impressive tidal phenomena — guided by Tor-Halvar Jakobsen.
Experience the forces of Nesstraumen and learn how currents, tides and landscape have shaped settlement and fishing traditions through the ages. Tor-Halvar leads the tour through the cultural landscape with stops at viewpoints and historical sites. At the strait, you’ll receive insight into the natural phenomenon and the life surrounding it. The tour concludes with simple fire-cooked food based on local ingredients, served in a traditional Northern Norwegian shelter built from stone and timber.

Practical information:
Easy–moderate terrain. Dress according to weather conditions and wear sturdy footwear. Weather-dependent. Meeting point for the guided tour is Tranøy Lighthouse, unless otherwise agreed.
